Asian Dumpling Lasagna is the kind of easy dinner that instantly stands out on the table. With tender dumpling wrappers layered like noodles, a savory beef and vegetable filling, and a glossy soy-based finish, this cozy comfort food brings together bold Asian-inspired flavor and classic lasagna-style comfort. It’s a great choice for a quick dinner, easy recipe night, family dinner idea, or anytime you want new food ideas that feel fun, satisfying, and a little different.

Ingredients

12 ounces dumpling wrappers

1 pound ground beef

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 small onion, finely diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1 cup carrots, julienned

1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped

2 cups spinach, roughly chopped

1/4 cup soy sauce

3 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons water

2 green onions, sliced

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

2 tablespoons chili crisp or chili oil

2 tablespoons water for baking dish moisture

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.

2. Heat the sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then cook the ground beef until browned.

3. Add the onion, garlic, ginger, carrots, and mushrooms, and cook until the vegetables soften.

4. Stir in the spinach and cook just until wilted.

5. Add the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and brown sugar, then stir well.

6. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water and stir it into the skillet until the filling thickens slightly.

7. Spread a thin layer of the beef mixture in the baking dish, then add a layer of dumpling wrappers.

8. Repeat the layers of filling and dumpling wrappers until everything is used, finishing with wrappers on top.

9. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons water over the top, cover loosely with foil, and bake for 25 minutes.

10. Remove the foil and bake for 8 to 10 minutes more, until the wrappers are tender and the top is set.

11. Let it rest for 5 minutes, then top with green onions, sesame seeds, and chili crisp before serving.

Notes

Do not let the filling stay watery, or the dumpling layers can turn soggy instead of tender and structured.
