Whether you need quick breakfast planning for the week ahead, easy dinner inspiration, healthy snack prep, breakfast ideas, dinner ideas, an easy recipe, or fresh food ideas for your family table, this beef and broccoli delivers big flavor with very little effort.
Ingredients
1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
4 cups broccoli florets
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup beef broth
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon sesame oil
2 cups cooked white rice
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
1. Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain and place it in a bowl.
2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and water.
3. Toss the sliced beef with the remaining 1 tablespoon cornstarch until lightly coated.
4. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
5. Cook the beef in batches for 1 to 2 minutes per side until browned, then transfer it to a plate.
6. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil and the broccoli to the skillet.
7. Cook the broccoli for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring often, until bright green and crisp-tender.
8. Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the sauce.
9. Stir for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
10. Serve hot over cooked white rice and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Notes
Do not overcrowd the pan when cooking the beef, or it will steam instead of sear and you will miss out on that tender texture and rich flavor.
