Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter
2 cups all-purpose flour
0.5 cup powdered sugar
0.5 tsp salt
14 oz sweetened condensed milk
0.5 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 to 2 tsp sea salt flakes (optional)
Instructions
1. Melt 1 cup butter over medium heat until browned (5–7 minutes). Let cool 5 minutes.
2. Mix cooled butter with 2 cups flour, 0.5 cup powdered sugar, and 0.5 tsp salt. Press into greased 9×13 pan.
3. Bake crust at 350°F (175°C) for 18–20 minutes until lightly golden.
4. In a saucepan, combine 0.5 cup brown sugar, 14 oz sweetened condensed milk, and 2 tbsp butter. Boil, stirring, for 5–6 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in 1 tsp vanilla.
5. Pour toffee layer over baked crust. Bake again for 12–15 minutes until set.
6. Cool completely. Sprinkle 1–2 tsp sea salt flakes if using. Chill and slice into 24 bars.

Chill completely before cutting to get clean edges.
