Description

Get excited for a comfort food classic that’s as fun as it is delicious! This Cheeseburger French Fry Bake is the perfect easy dinner or party recipe—think quick breakfast-for-dinner ideas, hearty casserole for weeknights, or the ultimate game day snack. Crispy fries are baked beneath a savory ground beef and onion mixture, loaded with melted cheddar, and topped with all your favorite burger fixings. It’s a family favorite you’ll make again and again!

Ingredients

24 ounces frozen French fries (crinkle-cut or your favorite shape)

1 pound ground beef (lean)

1 medium onion, diced

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)

1 tablespoon yellow mustard

1/4 cup chopped pickles or relish (optional)

2 tablespoons chopped parsley or chives (for garnish)

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread French fries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden and crispy.

2. While fries bake, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and diced onion. Season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring and breaking up meat, until beef is browned and onions are soft, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess grease.

3. Stir in ketchup and mustard until well combined. Remove from heat.

4. Reduce oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). In a 9×13-inch baking dish, arrange half of the baked fries. Top with half the beef mixture and half the cheese. Repeat layers with remaining fries, beef, and cheese.

5. Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Remove from oven. Drizzle with extra ketchup, sprinkle with pickles or relish, and finish with parsley or chives. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For extra crisp fries, bake them a bit longer before layering.

Swap cheddar for your favorite cheese blend, like Monterey Jack or mozzarella.

Customize with toppings: add diced tomatoes, jalapeños, or drizzle with ranch!
