Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 large eggs

1 cup buttermilk

3/4 cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup hot coffee

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

3/4 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

1/2 cup fresh cranberries or cherries

2 tablespoons chopped hazelnuts

12 small white chocolate pearls or candy pieces

6 green fondant or candy leaves

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and generously grease a 10 to 12-cup bundt pan.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

5. Slowly pour in the hot coffee and mix until the batter is smooth and evenly blended.

6. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack and cool completely.

8. Heat the heavy cream until warm, then pour it over the chopped semi-sweet chocolate. Let it sit for 1 to 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.

9. Spoon the ganache over the cooled cake, letting it drip down the sides naturally.

10. Finish with powdered sugar, cranberries or cherries, chopped hazelnuts, white chocolate pearls, and green leaves to create the Christmas wreath look.

Notes

Do not glaze the cake before it is completely cool, or the chocolate topping will slide off instead of setting into smooth, pretty drips.
