Description
Cozy Winter Lattes are the kind of warm, creamy drink I love making when I want an easy recipe that feels extra special. This cozy coffee is perfect for a quick breakfast, relaxing afternoon break, or simple after-dinner treat, and it fits right in with my favorite winter breakfast ideas, food ideas, and easy homemade café drinks.
Ingredients
2 shots espresso or 1 cup strong brewed coffee
2 cups whole milk
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Whipped cream, for topping
Apple slices, for garnish
Extra cinnamon, for garnish
Instructions
1. Brew the espresso or strong coffee and divide it between 2 mugs.
2. Add the milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg to a small saucepan.
3. Warm the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring often, until hot but not boiling.
4. Froth the milk mixture with a handheld frother or whisk until light and foamy.
5. Slowly pour the warm milk mixture over the coffee in each mug.
6. Spoon the foam over the top, then finish with whipped cream, apple slices, and a dusting of cinnamon if desired.
7. Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
Do not let the milk boil, or the latte can lose its smooth texture and the spices may taste harsher instead of warm and balanced.
