Ingredients
2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 8 wedges
1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
3/4 cup unsalted butter (1 1/2 sticks)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite or 7-Up)
Optional: vanilla ice cream, for serving
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into 8 equal wedges.
3. Separate crescent dough into 8 triangles. Place 1 apple wedge at the wide end of each triangle. Roll up and pinch to seal.
4. Arrange wrapped apples in the prepared baking dish.
5. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in sugar and cinnamon until combined (do not boil).
6. Pour the butter mixture evenly over the dumplings.
7. Pour the lemon-lime soda around the dumplings (not directly on top).
8. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
9. Serve warm, spooning syrup from the pan over each dumpling. Top with vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
For the best texture, use firm, tart apples such as Granny Smith.
Assemble ahead and refrigerate for up to 6 hours before baking.
Leftovers reheat best in the oven for crispier results.
