Description

Soft, golden, and ultra-fluffy, these classic dinner rolls are a must-try for any meal. Perfect as a quick breakfast, easy dinner side, or healthy snack, this recipe yields tender, bakery-quality bread that everyone will love. Serve these easy rolls fresh from the oven for breakfast ideas, dinner ideas, or anytime you need a crowd-pleasing food idea!

Ingredients

1 cup whole milk, warm

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

1 large egg

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions

1. Warm the milk until just slightly warm to the touch, then sprinkle in the yeast and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until bubbly.

2. In a large bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.

3. Knead the dough on a floured surface (or use a mixer with a dough hook) for 8–10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

4. Transfer to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.

5. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and arrange in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

6. Cover and let rise again until puffy, about 30–45 minutes.

7. Brush tops with melted butter. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18–22 minutes, or until golden brown.

8. Brush with additional butter after baking. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, use whole milk and real butter—this gives the rolls their soft, rich flavor.

If you want a shiny, golden top, brush the rolls with a beaten egg before baking.

Leftovers can be frozen for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven for that fresh-baked taste!
