Description
These Homemade Peppermint Patties are a cool, creamy, chocolate-covered treat that feels festive and surprisingly easy to make at home. They are perfect for holiday dessert trays, homemade candy gifts, quick dessert ideas, and easy recipe moments when I want something sweet, minty, and special without turning on the oven for long.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
4 cups powdered sugar
12 ounces dark or semisweet chocolate
2 teaspoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons holiday sprinkles
Instructions
1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
2. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar until a thick, smooth dough forms that is easy to shape.
3. Scoop out small portions of the filling, roll them into balls, and flatten each one into a disc about 1 1/2 inches wide.
4. Place the discs on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for 30 to 45 minutes, or until firm.
5. Melt the chocolate and coconut oil together in short microwave intervals, stirring until completely smooth.
6. Dip each chilled peppermint disc into the melted chocolate, let the excess drip off, and place it back on the parchment paper.
7. Add holiday sprinkles on top before the chocolate sets.
8. Let the patties rest until the chocolate coating is firm, then store or serve.
Notes
Do not skip chilling the peppermint centers before dipping, or they can soften too quickly in the warm chocolate and lose their shape.
