Description

Kashmiri Pink Chai is a cozy, creamy tea that feels both elegant and comforting in every sip. This easy recipe is perfect for a quiet breakfast, a healthy snack break, or warm drink food ideas when you want something beautiful, soothing, and a little different from your usual chai. With its delicate pink color, rich milk base, gentle spices, and nutty topping, it is one of my favorite easy recipe options for cozy mornings, afternoon treats, and special gatherings.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons Kashmiri green tea leaves

4 cups water

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup ice-cold water

2 cups whole milk

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 to 3 teaspoons sugar

3 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed

1 tablespoon pistachios, chopped

1 tablespoon almonds, chopped

1 pinch ground cinnamon or star anise powder, optional

Instructions

1. Add the Kashmiri green tea leaves, 4 cups water, baking soda, and crushed cardamom to a saucepan.

2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until the liquid reduces and deepens in color.

3. Pour in the ice-cold water and whisk vigorously for 1 to 2 minutes.

4. Strain the tea concentrate into a clean saucepan.

5. Stir in the whole milk, salt, and sugar.

6. Simmer gently for 8 to 10 minutes until the chai turns creamy and develops a soft pink color.

7. Taste and adjust the salt or sugar if needed.

8. Pour into cups and top with chopped pistachios, chopped almonds, and a pinch of cinnamon or star anise if using.

9. Serve hot.

Notes

Do not rush the simmering stage, because a weak tea concentrate is the main reason the chai may not develop its classic rosy color and rich flavor.
