Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1/3 cup sour cream

1 large egg

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

1 tablespoon milk

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 6-cavity donut pan or spray with nonstick spray.

2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. In another bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, sour cream, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.

4. Combine wet and dry mixtures, stirring just until blended.

5. Transfer the batter into a piping bag or zip-top bag, snip the corner, and pipe into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes in pan, then move to a wire rack.

7. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

8. Dip each cooled donut into the glaze and let excess drip off. Set on a wire rack for 15 minutes until glaze sets.

Notes

Use pure maple syrup for the best glaze flavor—avoid artificial substitutes.

Don’t overmix the batter to keep donuts tender and soft.

Store in an airtight container and reheat for 10 seconds in the microwave for a warm bite.
