Description
This quick and easy Korean ground beef bowl is one of my favorite easy dinner ideas when I need something fast, flavorful, and satisfying. It features savory ground beef cooked in a sweet and garlicky sauce, served over warm rice for a quick breakfast-for-dinner option, a simple weeknight meal, or one of those easy recipe food ideas I know I can count on.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
4 cups cooked white rice
2 green onions, sliced
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef.
3. Cook the beef, breaking it into crumbles, until browned and fully cooked.
4. Drain excess grease from the skillet if needed.
5. Pour the sauce into the skillet and stir until the beef is fully coated.
6. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens and turns glossy.
7. Spoon the cooked rice into serving bowls.
8. Top each bowl with the Korean ground beef.
9. Finish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
Do not rush the browning step, because letting the beef develop a little color before adding the sauce gives the bowl much better flavor.
